The new European Union (EU) General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will come into effect on May 25, 2018. From that point on, the GDPR is directly applicable to all actors operating on the territory of the EU. The new regulations give citizens more control over their personal data; In addition, the GDPR makes companies more responsible, while at the same time their reporting obligations are reduced. Furthermore, the role of the data protection authorities will be strengthened. Numerous Swiss companies will be directly affected by the General Data Protection Regulation.

Does the GDPR also apply to the VTX Group?

Yes, but only indirectly:

• no addressing or processing of target groups based on personal data
• No targeting of customers or potential customers in the EU
